Yamori Space Mission – Background

The Yamori Space Mission literally takes the Yamori Demo Kit into space. During this breathtaking journey the sensor covered a distance of almost 200km and reached an altitude of about 40000 meters. The experiment showed that the Yamori platform can withstand even the most adverse conditions of the stratosphere. The Yamori cloud provided by Sentinum was used to monitor the sensor data during the mission and to track the devices.

„It was a lot of hard work that we put in but the results are stunning.“

Johannes Ollech, CEO Sentinum GmbH

Technical Setup – Over 770 km LoRa Radio Link

With the introduced hardware base Yamori is able to read GPS data via the LBAD0XX1SC module from Murata and send the data via LoRa. In addition, we were able to record environmental data such as air pressure, temperature, humidity and VOC gases with the Yamori Green. The devices were integrated into the community-driven network server „TheThingsNetwork“, which allowed the use of numerous gateways in the environment, which turned out to be a redundant solution in the experiment. Our sensors achieved a LoRa sensor to gateway wireless distance of over 770 kilometers. At times, more than 1000 gateways were reached.

Murata Latest Series Of LPWAN Modules Setting New Standards

With the ISM band module LBAA0Qb1SJ and the cellular module LBAD0XX1SC, Murata setting new standards in size and performance for LPWAN modules. Both are the worlds‘ smallest modules of their kind and deliver outstanding performance. In addition to the possibility of communication via NB-IoT and LTE-Cat-M1, the Cellular Module has an integrated GNSS chip-set, which allows the current location to be determined. Thanks to Murata’s unique package technology, the modules are protected against the most adverse environmental conditions.

Chair FAPS – Pioneer in 3D-MID Technology

Thanks to the 3D-MID technology of the chair FAPS of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg,  the production of highly integrated and size-optimized IoT devices is possible. The R&D Institute is specialized in the production of highly integrated and complex antenna structures in three-dimensional housings. Together with Sentinum, Murata and the chair of FAPS, a specially designed housing has been developed, which includes a printed NFC antenna as well as a LoRa and NB-IoT combined antenna.
